International Federation of Medical Student Associations (IFMSA)

An independent, non-governmental, non-profit and non-political federation of medical students' associations that exists to serve medical students throughout the world. In 2009 it had 97 National Member Organisations from 89 countries on six continents and represented more than 1.2 million students. The IFMSA is officially recognized by the United Nations and World Health Organisation.
Attending IFMSA meetings is a great way to become involved in the international global health community. There are generally two meetings of the IFMSA General Assembly each year, as well as regional meetings.
